DAVID S. JOSEPH
1943-2022

David S. Joseph, Founder of The Joseph Companies in 1974 with the simple purpose of providing a better life for his family. David grew up on the southside of Peoria, working in his parents' small grocery store and learning the value of hard work, honesty, and generosity from his mother, father, brothers and the many aunts, uncles and cousins in the extended family. After graduating from Bradley University, David chose real estate as a career and first worked for a leading Chicago commercial real estate firm, Baird and Warner. David's career eventually brought him back to Peoria, where he worked for Commercial National Realty before starting his own firm, David Joseph Realtors Developers. His company evolved over the years, eventually becoming The D. Joseph Companies.

David was a developer, ahead of his time, who contributed much to the growth of Peoria. He was the pacesetter of commercial real estate in the Peoria area, leading by example and exemplifying the values of initiative, commitment, teamwork, and continuous improvement – the core values of The Joseph Companies today.
David Joseph along with his sons have built, leased and owned numerous shopping centers, office buildings, medical facilities, restaurants and retail out lots throughout the Midwest and the United States. His development experience encompasses over 2 million square feet and over $200 million worth of commercial property.

David was a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers and numerous other professional and service organizations. In addition, he was awarded the title of Knight of the Order of St. Gregory by the Vatican for his contributions to church, family and community.

As his sons, the Principles of The Joseph Companies, Bill Joseph & Brad Joseph, so adequately put forth, "The best way to pay tribute to our father, is to continue living his dream and work hard to bring The Joseph Companies to greater heights."
